Wisteria Tunnel in Japan

Close your eyes and imagine a place where you can lift your spirits, take your girlfriend or wife to, and that will inspire you and help you notice how beautiful life is. Well a place like that isn’t only in your imagination, it is actually all around Japan during their wisteria festival which takes place at their famous gardens, the most beautiful being Kawachi Fuji Garden (of which you can see the photos below). Wisteria (known as fuji in Japan) is said to be one of the archipelago’s most ancient noted flowering trees. The wisteria at these parks are Wisteria floribunda, which grow with powerful clockwise-twining stems. In Japan, these varieties bloom in this order: ‘Usubeni fuji’ (light pink), ‘Murasaki fuji’ (purple), ‘Naga fuji’ (long), ‘Yae kokuryu’ (double-petaled black dragon), and ‘Shiro fuji’ (white), which come into bloom in that order. Finally a yellow variant of wisteria (known as Golden chain) is such a beauty on its own but is widely considered difficult to grow in Japan, and can also be enjoyed for over a month. So pack your bags, because what’s better than going back to nature? Especially when it is this beautiful and calming.
